Scott O'Brien

Scott O'Brien, here coaching Ali Gerbracht at first base in a State Tournament game, grew up around softball. He's played at the highest levels, and has shared that love and knowledge at the high school and college level.

Scott O’Brien has never really stopped playing softball. At 63, however, it’s slowed down a little. He still plays on teams that have qualified and done quite well at nationals, but most of his pitches are against his AGWSR Cougar batters.

O’Brien is the co-head coach at AGWSR. He started out coaching various youth teams in baseball, softball, and even basketball. He started coaching at the high school level at Ackley-Geneva in 1999. Minus three years as the Cougar head baseball coach, he has been with the softball program the entire team. He even coached at Ellsworth Community College for three seasons at the same time as coaching the Cougar softballers.
