AGWSR educators, Beth Janssen and Brenda Drake recently returned from an experience at the Johnson Space Center, Houston. The pair applied and received grant funding which allowed them to attend a STEM conference. They plan to share the experience in various ways with other teachers and with students at the school.

It was a chance they knew they had to take. Brenda Drake and Beth Janssen, educators at AGWSR, made the decision to apply for the Iowa Space Grant Consortium, earning a trip to Johnson Space Center in Houston for the 24th annual Space Exploration Educators Conference held in early February. The pair headed to Houston for the three day experience.

The conference energized their passion for education while advancing their knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in the classroom and providing the educators with networking opportunities along with activities they will incorporate into AGWR classrooms.
