Kaden Abbas

AGWSR freshman Kaden Abbas was paired with junior two-time champion Marcel Lopez of New London in the first round of the 2021 State Championships in Des Moines. Abbas lost, dropping into the backside at 120 in Class 1A.

When AGWSR Cougar freshman Kaden Abbas qualified for his first Iowa State Wrestling Championships, his goals immediately focused on reaching the podium. When the brackets came out, and he saw he’d be facing a two-time defending champion, his goals did not change. They were merely tempered.

Abbas, a 25-14, went 0-2 at 120. Losing twice on Thursday ended his debut in Des Moines and changed his goals again. Now his focus is on getting back there.
