For 35 veterans and their guests, Thursday was a day they will not forget. The vets all members of the Ackley American Legion Post #252, were honored to visit Retrieving Freedom, a non-profit which trans and places service dogs with veterans and children with autism.

The vets and their guests rode a charter bus to Waverly for the latest of three trips organized by the Auxiliary members. Trips are scheduled to honor the vets for their service to the country. This trip also marked the 100th anniversary of the American Legion.
