The Cougar girls held just one lead the entire game, coming on a three-pointer by MaKenna Kuper with 2:41 to play. They went on to a 43-38 home win over the rival Grundy Center Spartans Tuesday night, thanks to that unlikely triple and an improbable putback.
“I don’t take a lot of them (three-point shots), but the team doesn’t, either,” Kuper said. “I heard coach (Mike) Finger yell that nobody was guarding me, just shoot it. I’ve been working on being more confident in taking the shot. When I did, I felt it was going in.”
