In just two weeks last fall, community members pledged support for the Ackley Volunteer Ambulance Service, donating over $27,000 through the Barlow Challenge with funds slated for the purchase of a new ambulance.

That generous support, couple with multiple years of proceeds from pancake breakfasts, memorial donations and fund generated through area townships using the local service, made the dream of the new rig a reality. The new rig, a 2019 Medix Type II unit was delivered to Ackley on Sept. 16.
