Brody Roder and Titan Opperman

AGWSR Cougars Titan Opperman (No. 10) and Brody Roder brought down Baxter quarterback Cole Damman here. While Damman rushed for 127 yards and threw for 165 more, the Cougars beat the Bolts 64-18 Friday in Ackley.

The AGWSR Cougars (6-1, 5-0) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels (5-2, 5-0) have played each other in big football games before. The most recent between the two North Iowa Cedar League-West rivals went to G-R and sent them on to the playoffs while the Cougars stayed home as the 8-Player Dist. 5 runner-up.

With AGWSR’s 64-18 win over the Baxter Bolts in Ackley, and G-R’s 62-0 win over Twin Cedars in Bussey Friday night, the collision course that was set a year ago will end this week in Gladbrook – with the winner likely to represent the district in the post season.

Jaden Penning

Jaden Penning was upended here, but rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown in AGWSR’s 64-18 win over Baxter Friday night in Ackley.
