The Hardin County Historical Society will host an ice cream and car cruise fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 20.
Cars will line up in the parking lot at the old high school in Eldora (12th Street) at 11 a.m. Each participant will receive a goodie bag, medallion, a drawing ticket and a chance to enter 50-50 drawing. The cruise will start at 11:45 a.m. with a drive through the Historical House to purchase a pulled pork meal or a walking taco meal.
The next stop will be by Estabrook to eat lunch and donate for homemade ice cream. The cruise will then continue to Hubbard via Hwy 175 past the Hubbard Care Center then through town (at about 1 p.m.) on the way to Radcliffe. Approaching Radcliffe (at 1:15pm), turn right at CENEX Station, then right at the park to S27.
From Radcliffe cars will travel to Alden and make a quick stop at Casey’s (1:30-1:45) before continuing through town to Historic Highway 20 to Iowa Falls. The cruise will pass Heritage Care Center at Iowa Falls city limits (2 p.m.). In Iowa Falls, drivers will take a left on River Street then a right on Union Street, a left on Main, then right on North. Across the street, the cars will pass Scenic Manor, Scenic Living, Cedar Ridge and Ashbook Care Centers, then head back to Oak Street. Turn left at the Fareway parking lot. Fareway will be the final destination. The winner of the 50/50 and drawings will be announced there.
Anyone who wants to join the cruise along the way will receive goodie bags, drawing ticket, medallion and have the opportunity to get in the 50/50 drawing at Fareway in Iowa Falls.
People along the route are invited to grab a lawn chair and wave as the parade of cars goes by. Times are approximate within 10 minutes. Questions should be directed to Rob John at 641-849-0938.
