Ten years ago this week, Eldora and its surrounding area was devastated by a hail storm the likes of which few of us have seen, or will see again. Hailstones the size of baseballs smashed windows, stripped trees and pummeled vehicles and people.
The Eldora community - with help from friends, family, neighbors and strangers – picked up the pieces. For some, it was a quick recovery, but for others the process dragged out for months or years. Scars and dents from that day can still be seen today.
This collection of stories and photos of the storm's aftermath and the community's recovery seeks to pay tribute to the work that has been done by Eldora’s residents, businesses and volunteers to not just clean up after the storm, but to come back stronger than before.
