A Wednesday morning press conference that announced the reopening of state park cabins for the Memorial Day weekend hadn’t even ended when Pine Lake State Park Manager Don Primus received the first phone call from someone wanting to make a reservation. An hour later, just two of the park’s 123 campsites remained available for the weekend, and two of the four cabins were spoken for.

“Word travels fast,” said Primus.
