The Iowa code concerning fireworks is simple. Since the sale of consumer-grade fireworks - like firecrackers, rockets, Roman candles, spinners and other similar explosives - became legal in Iowa in 2017, towns have adopted their own ordinances to bolster the State law.

In some cases, such as in Hubbard, the State code stands as the only law. But that may change after a concerned citizen presented an argument before the Hubbard City Council during Monday’s meeting.
