The Hardin County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a moratorium on commercial wind energy conversion construction permits just weeks after it was announced that more than 100 Hardin County landowners signed lease agreements with a wind energy company.

According to the resolution, which was passed unanimously, Iowa Code requires a county to compile ordinances every five years and Hardin County's current commercial wind energy conversion ordinance was last amended in 2012.
