Palisade Property

In January 2020, the City of Iowa Falls purchased 58 acres of property along River Road. The land is home to the barn pictured above (which the city has pledged to keep on the property and protect), but it could also someday be home to a new residential neighborhood.

Iowa Falls will have to wait a little longer to learn whether a proposed new housing development will get the green light to move forward.

In January, the city purchased 58 acres of land with the intention of creating a new residential neighborhood. In July, Fox Engineering presented plans to extend water and sewer along River Road to the property, and plans to open up the property with roadway, curb and gutter and utilities to the first 14 lots. The total cost for both projects is estimated at $3.8 million, but city officials have said they can structure payment of those expenses without increasing property taxes or city utility fees.
