Steamboat Rock Dam

The dam in Steamboat rock is some 80 years old and is in the Department of Natural Resources' crosshairs for modification. A meeting was held in Steamboat Rock, just up river from the dam, to discuss its future.

Engineers and DNR officials revealed four options for the future of the Steamboat Rock Dam at a well-attended public meeting Tuesday.

The four "alternatives" as the DNR and engineers are calling them, include doing nothing; building rock arch rapids; dam removal with structuring; and full dam removal.
