Back in more familiar territory, Grand JiVanté CEO Korey DeBerg, works at his desk taking care of the day-to-day operations of the facility. During the outbreak, DeBerg found himself helping out wherever needed, including mopping floors, disposing of contaminated PPE and other roles not normally associated with his position.

Editors note: Over the next few weeks, the Ackley World Journal will detail the Grand JiVanté COVID-19 outbreak in a series of stories. They will tell the story of the outbreak, as seen through the eyes of those who battled the virus, and share how the 35 residents who contracted the disease were cared for.

The 40-day unimaginable experience of employees, staff, residents and leadership of Grand JiVanté is officially over. The final COVID-19 patient from the campus recovered on Dec. 1.
