Adam Gregg, De La Riva

Ackley Development Director Ashley De La Riva, Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg (right) and Ackley Development Commission Vice Chair Jeff Frazier look up to see where facade renovations will take place at 626 Main St. in Ackley on Wedneday.

Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg believes he understands the economic challenges of rural Iowa, in part, because he himself grew up in the small in a town of about 2,500.

Gregg was in Ackley on Wednesday to tour a building at 626 Main St. and discuss rural economics with community and economic development leaders. The once collapsing building is being restored with the help of a $100,000 Community Catalyst Building Remediation grant. The renovations are scheduled to begin in October and be completed next spring.
