District Court Judge John Haney passed through the Hardin County Courthouse's single-entry point without any issues Wednesday morning.

Invited to speak at Wednesday's Hardin County Board of Supervisor meeting, Haney - the chair of the county's security commission - said county officials should be applauded for their efforts to enhance and increase courthouse security.

It just seems sad that we have that kind of money for an armed guard at the courthouse and we can't seem to find money for after-school and summer care for elementary children in our own community. Says something about priorities and public policy. It is sad indeed. Fear vs. the future.
