Iowa Falls-Alden High School school leaders are hopeful a new diploma will catch students before they drop out, giving them more options after high school.

At an Iowa Falls School Board meeting Monday evening, Superintendent Tony Neumann proposed creation of a “core diploma.” He said he began exploring the idea two years ago when he was principal at IFAHS. About half of the schools in the North Central Conference - and AGWSR High School in nearby Ackley - currently offer a similar alternative diploma for students who are not college-bound.
