The Iowa Falls and Alden school districts are considering a plan that would eliminate the Wednesday early dismissals that have become commonplace, and replace them with nine in-service days when staff would report to work, but students would have the day off.

Superintendent Tony Neumann, who serves both districts, presented the proposal to the Alden School Board last Friday, and to the Iowa Falls board on Monday. He said that while the early dismissals, which allow most educators 60 to 90 minutes for planning and collaboration, have been working, a different plan could provide even more opportunity for professional growth.
