River Road Housing Development

The City of Iowa Falls purchased 58 acres of land along River Road in January. On April 20 the city council approved a task order that will begin the process of turning the land into a subdivision for single family homes. Council members have said they'd like to keep the barn that currently sits on the property.

The Iowa Falls City Council gave its permission Monday for the city to spend more than $70,000 on initial plans to develop 58 acres of river adjacent property into the Scenic City’s newest neighborhood.

In January the city spent $350,000 to buy the property along River Road. The land - a former dairy - sits inside city limits. In approving the purchase, city leaders said it will give them the opportunity to make lots available for single family home construction. And their proximity to the river, council members speculated, could make them particularly attractive.
