It’s the end of an era.

The Scenic City Kiwanis — a service organization that’s existed in Iowa Falls for 53 years — will dissolve at the end of this month. The decision, which has been described as “bittersweet,” was fueled by declining and aging membership.

My Dad, George Hill, was a long-time member of the Iowa Falls Kiwanis Club. I was in the Navy and during my leave periods would visit my folks in Iowa Falls. My Dad would say, "It's Kiwanis Day. Oh, by the way, you're the speaker today!". This happened on more the one occasion. Sad to see it close. I knew all of those guys in the photo - they were part of my life growing up in Iowa Falls.
