Late Bloomers

Don Jones was surprised last Sunday when he saw blooms on his 10-year-old lilac bush. The phenomenon is rare for this time of year.

Every spring, Don Jones picks bouquets of lilac blooms for his home at 1117 Ellis Ave. in Iowa Falls. He and wife Lois love the purple hue and the fragrance.

But by this time of year, lilac bushes are typically losing their leaves. Except for Jones’. His bushes are blooming again. And that is very odd.
