Lee Wright

Lee Wright has found ways to give to back to her community for years. First, it was through her music, then the library, and now the Ackley Heritage Center. The common theme throughout her work has been making the community better - for her family and others’.

At 80 years young, Leola (Lee) Wright of Ackley has spent the majority of her life giving to others.

Lee said her dedication to giving originated in her childhood shortly after she learned to play the piano. Those lessons began at age 7 from a woman she knew as “Aunt Agnes.”

As her fingers delicately delicately dance across the keyboard at Ackley United Methodist Church, Lee Wright practices the songs she’ll perform for next Sunday’s services. She’s been providing music for the congregation through several pastors over the past 70 years.
