Reynolds at Legion

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds speaks at the Iowa Falls American Legion in the fall of 2019 while former Iowa Auditor Mary Mosiman, state Sen. Annette Sweeney and state Rep. Pat Grassley look on.

Last year the coronavirus pandemic halted the Iowa Legislature's 88th General Assembly in March, putting bills and discussion on hold until it returned for a short session in June.

This year legislators are hoping for a return to relative normalcy when the 89th General Assembly's session begins on Monday. That means some rules and regulations may need to be adjusted.

Wait. What?!

Is this all they offer concerning covid precautions? Please tell me I missed something.

No masks, just 'hey spread out a little why doncha'? Good grief. That is the best they can do for Iowans?

"Legislators will meet in person at the Iowa State Capitol and the public will be allowed inside the building, Speaker of the House Pat Grassley said. He added that policies encouraging spreading out whenever possible and meeting virtually will likely be implemented as well."
