A Greene man was arrested Friday in the early afternoon after a tractor rollover was reported on MM Avenue about a block south of Highway D15 east of Iowa Falls.

The call came in at 12:15 p.m. Friday, reporting a tractor was on its side on MM Avenue. The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office, AMR Ambulance and Iowa Falls police responded to the scene.

Gary Gibson, 58, of Greene was arrested, charged with OWI, first offense, a serious misdemeanor. According to court documents, Gibson said he had not been drinking alcohol while operating the tractor. The evidence at the scene showed otherwise.

According to the criminal complaint, several alcohol containers were found near the accident scene and a deputy noted Gibson had the odor of alcohol about him. He was asked to take a field sobriety test. Gibson agreed to do so and failed the test. His blood alcohol level later tested at .085, which is over the legal limit of .08.

He was not injured in the accident. He was taken to the Hardin County Jail and was released on Saturday morning to await a court appearance.

The tractor was owned by Nathan Steere.

The North Hardin E-Squad was called after the accident for traffic control while the tractor was pulled out of the ditch.
