If you want to capture John Enslin’s attention, invite him to a screening of a movie. Not just any movie. Those like “Margin Call,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps,” “Too Big to Fail” and “Other People’s Money.” Those are the movies that piqued his interest in the financial industry. He’s always been interested in how securities work.
While he was still in high school, a young Enslin decided on a career in counseling. He attended Iowa State University, eventually transferring to the University of Northern Iowa. His studies led him to an internship with the Department of Human Services. That hands-on experience didn’t turn out as he expected. He realized it wasn’t the right career for him, and in 2010 he began working for New York Life in the Des Moines area.
