Iowa Falls Construction

Work began earlier this month on the side streets that will be resurfaced as part of and Iowa DOT Highway 65/Oak Street resurfacing project.

Removal of the top layer of roadway for the resurfacing of side streets near downtown Iowa Falls has revealed fresh problems, and will result in thousands of dollars of added expense.

Mitch Holtz, of Fox Engineering, was back in front of the Iowa Falls City Council Monday night to speak about what’s been discovered as crews begin work on the project, which is expected to last through the summer and into the fall. Most of the project – the portion that includes the resurfacing of Highway 65/Oak Street from Hansen Family Hospital to Cadet Road – is being planned and executed by the Iowa Department of Transportation. But the city is undertaking a concurrent project to resurface some roads near Highway 65, and do utility work in the area while the road is torn up.

One-Way Change

Portions of the one-way streets of Iowa and Hickory will be made two-way during construction on Highway 65/Oak Street and Stevens Street.
