Summer Music

Five-year-old Anna Loewen and 4-year-old Stone Mackenzie look on as Organist Jim Hammann plays the organ at St. Matthews By-The-Bridge Episcopal Church on Thursday.

It's been said that music is a window to the soul, but for some lucky kids in Iowa Falls music seemed to be a window to their stomachs as they chowed on note-shaped cookies on Thursday.

The children, ranging in age from 3 to 8, were learning about musical instruments as a part of Barlow Memorial Library's Summer Reading Program. The kids were treated to live performances by master organist Jim Hammann, violist, violinist, and clarinetist Cheryl Growden and incoming eighth-grade trumpeter Will Gehrls.
