Kim Hartford

Kim Hartford is in her ninth year teaching third grade at Rock Run Elementary School in Iowa Falls. She said the job of being a teacher can be emotionally exhausting, but seeing former students (and getting hugs from them) is proof to her that the work is paying off.

Kim Hartford’s path to teaching wasn’t straight, but once she found her way, she knew it was where she belonged.

Hartford, a native of Remsen, is in her ninth year of teaching third grade at Rock Run Elementary School, after spending a year teaching second grade at Alden Elementary. But that’s not where she started. After graduating from high school, she earned a business degree from AIB. Her first job was with State Farm. When, at age 21, Hartford was offered the chance to take over for her boss, she made the decision to get out.
