Jim Herzog

Iowa Falls-Alden High School science teacher Jim Herzog visits with junior Tim Long during a recent class.

A Minnesota native, Jim Herzog has made a home for himself at Iowa Falls-Alden High School. The science teacher is completing his 19th year in the Scenic City, but he said the community has always felt like home to his family.

Currently, Herzog teaches physics, chemistry, astronomy, coding and engineering. Asked why he’s stayed in Iowa Falls for so long, Herzog said he wanted stability for his children. While retirement is getting closer, Herzog said it’s still at least five years off.
