Shannon Smuck

Shannon Smuck has always loved teaching. Now the profession is loving her back. She has continued to teach, using it to find strength, as she battles brain cancer.

Teaching is a labor of love for most who do it. For Hubbard-Radcliffe’s Shannon Smuck, it’s become much, much more.

Smuck, 40, was diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer) last April. She said it’s a rare disease for a woman her age. She went through radiation in May and June, and took chemotherapy pills for seven months. Through it all, minus the summer months, she has been teaching.
