IFA Valedictorians

Iowa Falls-Alden High School's class of 2019 included nine valedictorians. The valedictorian and salutatorian system of honoring students' academic achievements will be eliminated for the class of 2021. Instead, the school is switching to a system that rewards students who take challenging classes, even if they don't maintain perfect grades.

The Iowa Falls School District will abolish the valedictorian system next year, in favor of an honors program that rewards students who take challenging classes, even if they don’t get perfect grades in those classes.

The new academic honors program was presented to the school board at its meeting Monday evening. It was developed with input from teachers at Iowa Falls-Alden High School, and is based on similar programs at other high schools.
