COLLINS - Gayle Lawton, 63, of Collins and formerly of Ackley, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at the Woodley Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest with a family graveside inurnment at the Northlawn Memory Gardens. Woodley Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Iowa Falls is caring for Gayle and her family.
Gayle Marie Lawton was born on Oct. 27, 1955, in Iowa Falls to Maurice and Margaret (Kelsey) Lawton. She graduated with the class of 1973 at Ackley-Geneva High School and attended Des Moines Area Community College. She grew up in Ackley and later lived in Collins for almost four decades. Gayle served the Collins-Maxwell School District for nearly 25 years and was a fixture at many school events. She was a proud mom and grandma. She was known for her gardening skills, creating beautiful landscapes and being able to nurse any plant to its fullest potential. She was a dog lover, especially her two huskies. Gayle loved genealogy and local Iowa and Nebraska history.
