Washington Street: 2009 vs. 2019

Washington Street in Eldora is shown as it looked immediately after the Aug. 9, 2009 hail storm (left), and last month. The storm, which brought baseball-sized hail and winds packing speeds of 70 mph, damaged every building in Eldora.

Two weeks ago I spent some time wandering around the square and off into residential areas of Eldora and Pine Lake State Park. It was a pretty wonderful way to spend a Thursday afternoon.

It was also totally surreal.
