The growth of Wings of Refuge — a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping survivors of sex trafficking — is inspiration for anyone who has seen a problem and wondered, “How could I possibly help?”

The group got its start in Iowa Falls in 2013 after a prayer group of friends saw the documentary “Nefarious: Merchant of Souls.” The film chronicles the international sex trafficking industry, which sells millions of people every year — many of whom are children — and generates a profit of $32 billion annually. The friends were overcome by the scope of the problem. But rather than letting themselves get discouraged by it, they decided to work to make it better.
