Richard Simmons used to have a TV program called “Sweatin’ to the Oldies.” He would lead the viewing audience through a series of exercises with ‘60s oldies music playing in the background, the exercises were timed to the beat of each song. It was fun and easy to do in front of your TV set.
The people on the show would be behind him and do the workout with him as he led. They were all shapes, sizes and ages. It was so much fun and it became very popular. He eventually made them into videos for purchase and then people could do the exercises in the privacy of their own homes whenever they wanted.
