To the Editor:

It is that time of year again - back-to-school. It’s an exciting time for most with eagerness to reconnect with friends and move forward one more year toward graduation. For families, however, the time can be a bit stressful with all of the fees for registration, school supplies, and clothes. As you’re frequenting local businesses purchasing items for yourself, consider purchasing a few extra items to donate to a local school. Consider contacting the school nurse to donate money so she has it on hand to help students when in need or donate gently-used coats, boots, etc to her for students who may be in need once the weather turns cold. Consider a box of Kleenex or Puffs, a bottle of hand sanitizer, a box of fun band-aids, a few white board markers for your child’s teacher. While these may seem like small ways to help, they are instrumental for our schools to really care and provide for each and every student.
