To the Editor:

As an advocate of clean water since 1969, I have worked very hard to organize river clean ups and to work with the State of Iowa and I.S.U. on surface water studies in Hardin County. We created baselines for the five tributaries of the Iowa River. This lifelong pursuit allowed me to explore every inch of the Iowa River and its tributaries. Hardin County is blessed to have the watersheds and the data concerning them that we do. We know what a healthy stream has in it for life forms. It’s all dated and documented by I.S.U. I am proud of the work we put in, receiving the Governor’s Clean Water Award in the year 2000.
