Today another police shooting of an unarmed man is in the news. For the sake of this blog post and all of our sanity, let us dispense with the majority of the controversy that surrounds the seemingly increased frequency of these events.

Let’s agree that it was a tragedy, let’s agree that the man who was shot had done something unsavory to bring police attention to himself, and let’s agree that, by and large, our law enforcement officers are good, selfless and often heroic people who want to do good in the communities they serve.
