Just when I thought the monsoon season in Iowa Falls was over for the summer we had a small cloud burst recently that dumped 3.7 inches of rain on the Iowa Falls metro area. Up around the communities of Humboldt and Algona the downpour tallied over 4 inches. Since then we have had some sprinkles which have mainly settled the dust.

The summer rains, however, have certainly put a damper on road and street construction work in Iowa Falls. Numerous new projects are underway in various parts of the city as well as follow-up repair work on the recent downtown Washington Avenue reconstruction project. The major project this year is the north-south reconstruction and repaving of U.S. Highway 65 from Hansen Family Hospital to near the north city limits.
