Driving on River Road in Iowa Falls can sometimes be a real challenge. It is a beautiful scenic route along the Iowa River that takes you from the Boat Club and nearby Swinging Bridge to Weaver's Cove, a picnic park and boat launching facility.

The challenge, or should we say challenges, may not happen very often but when they do, the effects can be rather dramatic. This spring, heavy rains and a quick warm-up shucked enormous chunks of ice up and onto both river banks including over a low section on River Road. The ice chunks also bunged up the docks at the Scenic City Boat Club landing and club house. The ice chunks that washed up on River Road were "ploughed" to the roadside to allow the traffic to pass.
