One day when I was 11, I made a series of bad choices. Those choices led to damage. But through that damage, I was taught one of the more valuable lessons of my life.

It was a beautiful summer Saturday. My parents were going out of town for the day. I was excited for them to leave so I could have a friend over and cut loose under the weak oversight of a new babysitter.
