But the holiday break is over for high school winter sports teams in the Greenbelt Area (Iowa Falls-Alden, AGWSR, South Hardin). The next two months provide teams the opportunity to place themselves in the best position possible entering the postseason.
IF-A is struggling this season and are still searching for their first victory. Jenny Wibholm is averaging 12.2 points a game for the 0-8 Cadets.
Cayden Howland is one of several wrestlers carrying an impressive mark into the January for IF-A. Howland is currently undefeated at 145, sitting at 17-0.
The Tigers are struggling offensively, averaging just 22 points per game. Junior Emma Spieker is leading the squad with 6.8 per game.
The South Hardin boys are currently tied for the top spot in the NICL-West at 4-0. Beau Butler is averaging 12.8 points per game and leads the conference in rebounds with 63.
Senior Taylor Kolthoff (120) carries a top 10 ranking and a 13-2 record into the new year. He is one of two ranked grapplers for SH-BCLUW.
Alyssa Hames leads the 5-2 Cougar girls basketball team, averaging 17.2 points per game and eight boards a contest.
AGWSR is currently tied for second in the NICL-West with a 2-2 conference mark. Senior Luke Starr is averaging 18.6 points per game so far this season.
Freshman 113-pounder Bo Gerbracht is currently 12-3 for AGWSR.
