Alex England

Alex England stabs a ball toward the net during Tuesday's home meet versus St. Edmond. The Iowa Falls-Alden boys won the meet by a 6-3 final, and England won both his doubles and singles bouts.

As recently as four years ago, Fort Dodge St. Edmond boasted a State champion. They are still one of the teams on the list for most state finalists with five. Just two seasons ago, they had the State doubles champions. And five times they have finished in the top-three at State team - winning it all in 2013.

So anytime somebody beats the Gaels, it's kind of a big thing. Iowa Falls-Alden did it for a second season in a row Tuesday night in Iowa Falls. But, it wasn't easy. The Cadets won 6-3, but were involved in four extra sets - winning three of them.
