Alyssa Hames

Cougar junior Alyssa Hames grins big as she records the unassisted putout to end Wednesday's Region 7 win over BCLUW. Typically an outfielder, a late season injury to Josie Winterberg at third base forced changes all around.

The plan is always to jump out to an early lead then play solid defense behind strong pitching. That hasn’t always been followed by the AGWSR Cougars this season, but it was Wednesday. To a “T.”

The 14th-ranked Cougars scored two in the first then used defense and pitching to make it hold up. The 2-0 home win over BCLUW moved AGWSR to 10-4 on the season and into the Class 1A Region 7 semifinals.
