Evan Janssen

Evan Janssen never knew all that much about soccer before getting a job with the Des Moines Menace. Now the AGWSR graduate understands why the sport is so popular as he oversees the youth programs for the club.

Evan Janssen admittedly didn’t know much about soccer growing up, but that still didn’t stop him and some of his AGWSR baseball teammates from being late to practice. Now the sport has become his job.

“I would have loved to have played, but AGWSR didn’t have soccer,” Janssen said. “I had always been interested in it as far as watching it on television, but I never followed-followed it. But during baseball season my senior year, we really got into the World Cup for some reason. Derek Schipper, Trevor Bakker, myself and a couple others on the team almost missed a high school baseball game to watch the World Cup.”
