The Winters kids, Fletcher and Noelle, hit the bike trail where they can ride their bikes and also do fun activities to get their heart beating - like hopscotch and jumping jacks.

It’s not just lessons in the classroom students are missing with the school shutdown. There are no after school activities, including organized sports. Physical education classes are also affected.

Just like parents having to find new and innovative ways to keep their kids learning, they are also in need of getting them off the couch and active.

Get outside

One of the best ways of getting exercise is just getting outside and walking. Eldora-New Providence Elementary and South Hardin High School teacher Michelle Olson takes her dog, Max, for a walk. 


Have your kids join in on your workouts, like Reid Van Engen is doing yoga. Having them do other fun things like jump around like an animal is a great way to burn off some energy, according to P.E. teacher Janet Tidman.
