High school baseball and softball teams will get the chance to have a summer season following an following a joint statement released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association and Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Wednesday afternoon.

Teams may hold practices beginning June 1, while games can be played as early as June 15.

South Hardin baseball

Though there will be restrictions and social distancing guidelines to follow this upcoming summer, South Hardin baseball coach Dick Shindelar is excited about the opportunity to play.

AGWSR Cougar Softball

AGWSR Cougar softball co-head coaches Scott O'Brien and Brenda Drake are both happy with the greenlight to start the season on June 1. Though cautious, they are eager for the chance to return to State, like they did here in 2018 when they finished second.
